Which
brings me perfectly to the point. All those wonderful hours under the stars,
dancing under the trees, gathered round fires, or pumping out some of the most
amazing music on god's earth. And then there are the people. There's Mr Lost-It
("you OK mate?"). The DJs gathered behind the decks, or discussing
the latest Astrix album, or why they don't like breaks ;-). The rig owner, smiling
benignly, knowingly. The girl who's been dancing non-stop all night. The serial
spliff roller. The guy who's brought magnesium fire lighters with him - fire
starter! What does this place look like in day-light anyway? Fragments of snatched
conversation, just what exactly does Paul look like anyway? Smiles, smiles everywhere.
A little haven, an oasis of music, of friendship, of like minded souls united
and together - and of love. Love of the forest, the sky, the music, the scene,
and each other.
We couldn't wait, could we? As soon as the weather seemed remotely warm enough,
we blew the cobwebs of winter away. A hollow in a wood, perfect for sound. Let's
do it right. Slip in, quick and easy. Get it set up right - and fast. Ah, the
base... Cheers all round, knowing it's starting, the 1st night of the year.
The first of many.
